Since GCYS is a volunteer organization, it relies solely on its parents and friends to support and maintain it. Adults may assist by getting involved in coaching,
refereeing, working on fields, helping with special projects, serving as division coordinators, etc. Free coaching and referee clinics are offered in the spring and summer
months through BAYSA. GCYS asks each parent to volunteer for at least one area. By doing this, it will allow the club to distribute duties and not cause major time
commitments for any one group or activity.
Registration fees cover uniform, association fees, player ID, secondary insurance, equipment, field maintenance and office supplies.
Written requests to play up should be submitted with the registration form. Requests must be renewed annually. A player may only play up one age group, and must
possess the skills and ability necessary to contribute to that team. Convenience of transportation, playing with a relative, etc. is not sufficient cause. BAYSA does
allow high school age players to play up more than one year on older age teams.
A full refund is offered if the club is unable to place a player on a soccer team. Full refund through July 15 ONLY. One half refund from July 16-31 ONLY.
No refunds will be made AFTER July 31.
Any U11 and/or older player may try out for competitive teams in appropriate age groups. Tryouts for competitive teams will be held in June. Please check our
website for dates and times. Participants are evaluated on various soccer skills including running, passing, dribbling, heading, and trapping.
There is a number coding system that distinguishes between the three different sizes of balls, e.g., 5 is the largest size). It is very important that your player
and his/her team practice with the correct size soccer ball for its age and developmental level. A chart for divisions and ball sizes is listed below:
|
Ages 12-18
|
Ball size #5
|

Ages 8-11

Ball size #4

Ages 4-7

Ball size #3

All players are required to wear shin guards to all practice and games. Also, players will need to wear rubber-cleated soccer shoes. You may also own your own ball
to practice but this is not required. Players should always bring liquids (water, sports drink, etc.) to practice and games.
Apply to the club and follow their guidelines.
BAYSA (and GCYS) currently requires a license for the age group you are coaching.
